Premiere ~ Rufus Reid’s “Lake Tyrrell in Innisfree”
Posted: April 12, 2017
Sunday, April 23, 2017, The Raleigh Civic Symphony presents my latest commission; “Lake Tyrrell in Innisfree.” This commission requested the subject be inspired by rivers and water. We had just discovered Innisfree in Millbrook, NY, a beautiful lake surrounded by gardens of a very special nature. They are called cup gardens and designed so that a view of the whole is impossible. It requires you to stroll, coming to a view, perhaps to sit and enjoy, then to stroll on, coming to another view. In this way, you complete the walk around the lake. I have designed this composition in the same way. I hope you will come to Raleigh and enjoy what I have composed.
