Upcoming Performances
The Glenn E. Gomez International Artists Endowment for Jazz Studies enables the University of North Texas’ College of Music to bring internationally known jazz artists to the university for residencies enabling the creation of relationships with University of North Texas students.
I am delighted to be the artist chosen for this year. It will be a busy, exhilarating week. I will be seeing students all day and performing in the evenings with Nick Finzer and Quincy Davis, with the Student Jazz Chamber Music Ensembles and the final concert with UNT Lab Bands.

This truly worthy benefit concert for The Jazz Foundation of America is an amazing effort to help musicians. Come if you can, it is truly a fantastic night!
Read what Harlem World has to say!
Nick Finzer brings together Rufus Reid, Renee Rosnes and and Lewis Nash, with himself on trombone for this concert to remember J.J. It is such a pleasure to perform with these individuals. I cannot even tell you how it feels to perform J.J.’s music. It will be a stellar night!
I do hope you will be able to attend.
We will start the celebrations for International Jazz Day on Sunday this year! (April 30 falls on Tuesday!) I will bring my quartet to the library and we will send you home eager to continue the celebration with more jazz!

“Jazz is not just music, it is a way of life, it is a way of being, a way of thinking”. -Nina Simone
The story of Jazz is written into the quest for human dignity, democracy and civil rights. It has given strength to the struggle against discrimination and racism. UNESCO believes in the power of Jazz as a force for peace, dialogue and mutual understanding, for the contribution it can make to building more inclusive societies, and this is why in November 2011, the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed 30 April as “International Jazz Day”.
