“Recognition”   Track From “Quiet Pride ~ The Elizabeth Catlett Project” was nominated for Best Instrumental Composition.

What an adventure this is!  I am  thrilled.  I need to thank many people who helped make these GRAMMY nominations happen.  I wish Elizabeth Catlett was here to learn this.  Her sculptures are responsible for this entire project.  The musicians on this project were beyond compare.  They not only brought their A-games, but their hearts.  Dennis Mackrel conducted this music magnificently.  Just listen.  You will agree.  Akira Tana brought his great skill as a Producer and took charge.  James Farber brought his skill and recorded this music magnificently.   Huge thanks to my manager, Suzi Reynolds, Jana Herzen of Motéma Music for releasing this album, Robin Tomchin, the project manager on this, Cary Goldberg & Scott Thompson for their constant stream of publicity, bringing magazine articles and radio interviews to you so that you knew I had music out to listen to.  None of this would have happened without everyone’s work.  I am so honored.  I thank all of you for your support.  Come to the Jazz Standard Feb 26-Mar 1, 2015, to hear more of my compositions for large ensemble!
